Wellness Wednesday: Let’s Break Down Nutrition
Happy Wellness Wednesday, friends!
Every single Wednesday I will be sharing a blog post breaking down some topic in the wellness world, and today we’re going to chat about my approach to nutrition. Fun, right?! I know it can be confusing, but my approach is simple, it’s sustainable, and it’s always sensible. Being healthy shouldn’t be complicated, it shouldn’t be confusing, or restrictive and I hope I can help make it a little more clear for you!
Grab a cup of coffee, make a smoothie, cozy up and let’s break down my nutrition mindset.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to all things health, fitness, and wellness. I have always wanted to eat healthier, read all the books I could, and gain as much knowledge as possible on how to be my healthiest self. I love grocery shopping, prepping veggies, and having a fully stocked pantry. It makes me happy! Anyone else? But, it can get a little messy.
Let me make this clear - I can only share with you what has worked for me, and what hasn’t. What hasn’t worked for me, is nutrition feeling like a full time job, having my mind be so obsessed about the food I was planning on eating, or the food I had already ate. I’ve made mistakes, I’ve been way too restrictive, I’ve been way too indulgent. I knew there had to be a better way than logging and counting all my calories, macros, and allowing food to hold too high importance in my mind. I wanted to be present with my family, eat with freedom, but still feel great, and be healthy. I needed simple, I needed sensible, and I needed sustainable. Can you relate?
I’ve heard before, whatever you’re willing to do to lose weight, you should be able to do forever. We all know the things we need to do to be our healthiest selves, it’s our mindset that holds us back and makes it a messy approach.
I found myself at an all time low, and as a last approach, I purchased the meal plan I now follow in 2019. It changed my whole world. I began to heal my mindset with food and nutrition, it gave me a plan to follow, which I so need and love, but it also gave me freedom. No counting calories, no counting macros, or measuring my food. It’s a simple approach to plating your meals, assuring you’re hitting all the macros and nutrients your body needs, but with such a sensible approach. I can go out to dinner, go on vacation, and there’s no obsessing. The meal plan comes with courses that break down all the topics like an all or nothing mindset, all the different types of hunger, how to plate your meals, the core principles that truly pushed me to my healthiest self - both physically, and mentally (and so much more!). For the first time, no food was restricted or off limits - it focused on adding MORE. More water, more veggies, and the mindset piece behind our food choices and habits is what changes everything.
Now, I eat with freedom. Just today our morning got away from us, and I knew breakfast needed to be protein, and a fiber filled carb. I grabbed an IQ bar (my absolute fave right now!) , a banana, and moved on! It’s just simple, and I need that. I’m so thankful for this plan, and love it so much, I want to share it with everyone! Of course, there’s a lot more we will break down within nutrition, but I had to start with the foundation in how I eat.
More than anything else - I’m passionate about others unlocking their healthiest selves, mentally, physically, being present, and living life well. The road to success should always be under construction, but it’s so much better when we get to do it together. We all have our day one, that one day when we finally say enough is enough. Nothing changes if nothing changes. We have to choose to defy our default, get uncomfortable, and step into change.
You don’t have to do it alone. I now offer coaching within the wellness world, and run an Online Accountability Group For Women. We work through the nutrition plan that changed my relationship with food, we work on a healthy mindset, and fitness. We lean into accountability and community, and nothing makes me more excited and pumped up than seeing lives changed!
Thank you so much for being here. Don’t forget to check out my other post today, the salad is so delish! You’re going to want to make it this week!
I hope you have the BEST day! I’ll see you back here on Wednesday where we will break down fitness! xx
